The Buildings Hub Spotlight States Public Requests and Funding Dashboard brings state and federal building decarbonization funding opportunities and awards together in one place for 29 states and DC. This tool allows users to answer two questions: What funding is available now, and where has the funding already gone?

The Opportunities tab shows available funding by target area

The Opportunities Dashboard can provide a national summary or state-by-state view of building decarbonization funding opportunities. Users can explore requests by state, request type, target use, funding program, and funding agency. The results contain details such as due dates, program names, titles, maximum funding, and source links. As of October 27th, the dashboard features more than 320 open opportunities representing approximately $5 billion in available funding.

The dashboard allows users to find funding opportunities based on location, thematic area, funding program, and funding agency. If a user is interested in finding workforce development opportunities in the state of Pennsylvania, for example, they could use the filter bar on the right side and click "Workforce" under Target Use and "Pennsylvania" under State. Alternatively, a user could click Pennsylvania on the map and then CTRL + click Workforce Development under "Requests by Target Use." In the Request Details table, the results of the search will be available.

Starting from a broader search, users can look for specific programs or funding agencies through drop-down options. There are 804 funding programs listed from 154 funding agencies tracked within the dashboard, among the 30 jurisdictions.

The Outcomes tab allows users to see how funding opportunities connect to awards made by states and the federal government

The Opportunities view focuses on what is open now and is likely to change frequently, as updates to the dashboard are made weekly. Once an award has been made from a tracked funding program, it is surfaced in the "Outcomes" tab of the dashboard. Each individual project receiving funding is listed on its own line to showcase details on the awardee and the intended use of the funding.  Both federal and state awards are listed, including a total of 214 projects and $2 billion in awarded funding. A user can view the outcomes of state awards, federal awards, or both.

This delineation supports two approaches: a high-level view or a detailed investigation of where the funding has gone. A user can start with the national view and become more specific by choosing an investment type, state and funding program, project category, or funding awarded year. California has awarded the most projects, at $900 million since 2016.

A user interested in projects awarded through California's Equitable Building Decarbonization Program awards can use the "State and Funding Program" dropdown and use the slicer (>) next to California and click "CA – Equitable Building Decarbonization Program." For the same results, a user can select the state on the map and CTRL + click Equitable Building Decarbonization Program under the Awards by Program Table.
