SUMMARY:Ready\, Set\, Scale: Scaling Energy Coaching: Implementor Insights
DESCRIPTION:One-on-one energy coaching is becoming a powerful\, low-cost tool for municipalities and community groups to help residents navigate energy efficiency upgrades and decarbonization. Homeowners exploring heating and cooling systems often become overwhelmed with unfamiliar terminology and conflicting information that slows adoption and stalls climate progress.\n\nEnergy coaches -also known as heat pump coaches\, decarb coaches\, or energy advisors -are community members who provide unbiased\, neighbor-to-neighbor guidance. They help residents understand how heat pumps work\, compare technology options\, identify weatherization needs\, and prepare for conversations with installers. Coaches also connect residents with incentives and programs they may not be aware of. As one program in York\, Maine notes\, residents consistently express relief at having an informed neighbor to talk with rather than feeling like they are being sold something.”\n\nWe will explore how community leadership and peer support can accelerate home electrification and increase heat pump adoption\, with a focus on what it looks like to scale these efforts in real communities. The webinar will draw on discussions with program implementors to show what it takes to launch and grow an energy coaching program\, how coaches build resident confidence\, and why this model offers an effective\, affordable path toward meeting local climate goals and improving resident comfort.

SUMMARY:NEEP Case Studies
DESCRIPTION:Designed for attendees to benefit from shared knowledge and experience of those who have “been there”\, case study sessions include presentations coupled with an extended audience Q&A segment. There are three case studies: \nACE in the Hole: Shared Energy Managers\nNot having a full-time energy manager doesn’t have to be a hindrance for communities. There is an alternative: shared energy managers. This case study will highlight the Achieving Community Efficiency (ACE) project\, a multi-year DOE-funded project where several communities worked together to share an energy manager. Join us to discuss the benefits of this type of program and how to set one up. \nThe ABCs of K-12 Retrofits\nThe American Society of Civil Engineers gave America’s public K-12 infrastructure a D+ in its 2021 Report Card. Many communities don’t have adequate budget or staff to properly maintain\, update\, or replace school buildings\, but this case study will highlight successful examples of existing school projects that address health and energy improvements. Join us for tips on becoming the teacher’s pet as new federal dollars become available for school retrofit projects that prioritize underserved communities. \nState Plans for Impact\nState leaders discuss their high-level plans for utilizing funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for energy efficiency\, economic development\, electrification and equity. Focus will be on the $62 billion to be administered by the Department of Energy\, but plans for Department of Transportation or other programs will also be addressed.

SUMMARY:Innovative Partnerships: Collaborating for Community Decarbonization
DESCRIPTION:Complex issues require collaborative solutions. The third and final session in NEEP’s Low-Carbon Retrofit Solutions webinar series will provide examples of innovative and equitable solutions for community decarbonization. Leaders in Pennsylvania\, Vermont\, and North Carolina are working to address these issues by facilitating intake processes for safety and efficiency upgrades through collaborative partnerships. Weatherizing a home offers various benefits but is often times hindered by existing health and safety issues like asbestos\, mold\, and lead. This is especially true in older housing stock where safety issues must be addressed before efficiency improvements can be made. By leveraging partnerships around a continued commitment to advance the interconnection of health\, homes\, and energy\, these issues can be addressed and lead to a more equitable and inclusive future. \nRegister for the event here
