SUMMARY:2024 Hot Water Forum & Hot Air Forum
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Hot Water Forum (HWF) is the premier technical conference dedicated to efficiently producing\, distributing\, using\, and reusing hot water. Since its inception in 2008\, this two-day conference has brought together seasoned experts and newcomers to exchange knowledge\, foster innovation\, and help drive market transformation. \nIn addition\, ACEEE presents the second Hot Air Forum (HAF)\, focusing on decarbonizing space heating in buildings of all kinds through heat pumps. Both conferences will explore how these industries can reduce greenhouse gas emissions\, improve grid resilience\, and center equity. \nThe HAF will kick off the event in Atlanta\, Georgia\, from March 12 to 13\, then transition to the HWF\, March 13 to 14. The events will overlap on the 13th\, a full day of collaborative sessions covering the intersections between space and water heating. \nPrevious HWF/HAF gatherings have attracted diverse attendees\, including equipment and component manufacturers; water\, gas\, and electric utility professionals; and local\, state\, and federal agency representatives. Energy efficiency program planners\, operators\, evaluators\, electricians\, plumbers\, installers\, policymakers\, representatives from NGOs\, engineers\, consultants\, and other experts have found value in the sessions and great networking at the events. \nThese two conferences have separate sponsorships\, with a 50% discount on the second sponsorship for companies supporting both events. Please get in touch with Alan Raymond for more information. \nJoin us in shaping the future of hot water and space-heating efficiency at the 2024 HWF and HAF conferences.

SUMMARY:Bringing Energy Efficiency to Underserved Households: Examples to Emulate
DESCRIPTION:Energy efficiency can produce numerous economic\, health\, and environmental benefits\, but most utility and third-party programs do not adequately serve the households that would stand to gain the most\, such as renters and low-income households. \nJoin us to learn about a new ACEEE toolkit highlighting best practices for increasing program participation among underserved residential customers. We will discuss strategies for programs to better reach all underserved households as well as specific strategies for reaching renters\, income-eligible households\, and rural households. Attendees will also hear from guest speakers who have successfully incorporated many of the strategies into their programs.

SUMMARY:Energy Efficiency as a Resource Conference
DESCRIPTION:Utility energy efficiency programs have a strong record of saving customers energy and money. But today’s urgent challenges—from climate change to inequitable energy burdens—demand that we ramp up these efficiency efforts and reimagine what these programs are capable of\, building on the strong foundations in place. \nJoin us at the Energy Efficiency as Resource (EER) conference in Philadelphia\, October 16–18\, 2023\, to explore how efficiency efforts can expand and evolve amid a transforming utility industry. Back in person in 2023 for the first time following 2021’s online event\, EER is the premier U.S. conference on policies and programs to reduce utility customers’ energy waste and help utilities meet climate goals and infrastructure challenges. Together we’ll strategize about using innovative technologies and policies to enable efficiency programs that deliver greater greenhouse gas reductions\, improve bill affordability and health for low-income customers\, and embrace more electrified and grid-interactive equipment in our homes and buildings. \nThe EER conference will bring together a large\, diverse group of the nation’s leading players in the utility energy efficiency arena\, including attendees from utilities and program administrators\, regulatory commissions\, state government\, consultants\, manufacturers\, environmental organizations\, consumer groups\, and research institutions.

SUMMARY:2022 Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings
DESCRIPTION:After a successful virtual event\, the 2022 Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings will return to our usual\, beloved location — the gorgeous grounds of Asilomar Conference Grounds near Monterey\, California.  Our theme for the 22nd biennial event is “Climate Solutions: Efficiency\, Equity\, and Decarbonization.” \nEnergy efficiency and demand flexibility in buildings are critical parts of local\, state\, federal\, and utility decarbonization strategies\, enabling higher penetrations of variable renewable energy sources and electrification.  As we transition to the new clean energy economy\, when and where demand-side resources provide grid services is increasingly important for a reliable\, low-cost\, decarbonized future.  At the same time\, rapid changes in policies and programs signal a shift in approaches to bring equity and environmental justice to the forefront of climate solutions. \nCome join professionals from around the world to discuss the science and policies that equitably advance efficiency in our built environment and reduce climate impacts.  Thirteen panels covering a wide range of topics — focusing on technologies\, policies\, equity\, behavior\, and resilience — will provide for a diverse and exhilarating exchange of ideas and information. The 2022 Summer Study is the ideal forum for learning and discussing topics related to these important issues in both formal sessions and casual settings.  Bring your ideas\, experience\, and vision to share and collaborate with friends and colleagues.

SUMMARY:2022 Climate-Forward Efficiency Symposium
DESCRIPTION:As states and utilities set ambitious decarbonization goals\, the case for leveraging demand-side measures to reduce emissions is stronger than ever. The ways in which utility energy efficiency programs are designed\, operated\, and evaluated must evolve to ensure they are on track to achieve an affordable and equitable clean energy future. This symposium will explore the wide range of strategies we have at our disposal and share leading examples where climate-forward actions are being taken today. \nParticipants will learn from and engage with experts from across the United States that have successfully approached the nexus of energy efficiency programs and decarbonization. Attendees will also gain crucial insights from ACEEE’s newest report\, A Roadmap for Climate-Forward Efficiency\, which introduces multiple strategies to accelerate climate-forward efficiency through legislative\, regulatory\, and utility actions. Informed by an extensive stakeholder engagement process\, these strategies are rooted in demonstrable best-practices and can be adapted across geographies. \nThis symposium will reconvene in early March with a small number of working sessions to plot a practical course forward for climate-forward efficiency across the country. During the registration process for this Day 1 event\, you are invited to indicate which issue-specific sessions you would most like to see hosted next month.

SUMMARY:2022 Hot Water Forum
DESCRIPTION:As climate efforts intensify\, the 14th Hot Water Forum will offer a singular look at how water systems can not only save money but also reduce harmful pathogens and building greenhouse gas emissions. \nThe forum comes at a critical — and promising — time. The emergence of new water heating technologies and the Biden administration’s emphasis on workforce development and building decarbonization are driving fresh opportunities for the hot water industry to meet challenges of greenhouse gas reduction\, grid resilience\, and equity. \nACEEE’s Hot Water Forum is the only national conference focused exclusively on water heating\, the second largest use of energy in residential and multifamily homes. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders\, advocates\, startups\, and other stakeholders as this tight-knit community reconvenes in-person for the first time since 2019.
