SUMMARY:Power and Production: Keeping Electricity Prices Down and the U.S. Economy Running
DESCRIPTION:On November 4th\, Join the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace\, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions\, and the Georgia Tech Strategic Energy Institute for a panel discussion on Power and Production: Keeping Electricity Prices Down and the U.S. Economy Running. This 45 minute panel discussion will be followed by audience Q&A and a reception. \nFor two decades\, power demand in the US was essentially flat. It is now growing quickly again\, as the country builds AI data centers\, switches to EVs and electric heaters\, seeks to revive domestic manufacturing\, and turns up the AC to keep cool as temperatures rise. \nHow can the United States keep the AC running\, the lights on\, and the prices down? What is the proper role for renewables and storage–the fastest growing energy sources in the country–at a time when the supply chain for gas power is snarled and blocked? And finally\, how can we ensure a domestic\, secure\, resilient supply chain to produce all of these energy solutions here in the United States? \nSpeakers for the event include: \n\n\nNoah Gordon\, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace \n\n\nLeonardo Martinez-Diaz\, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace \n\n\nChristine Conwell\, Georgia Tech Strategic Energy Institute \n\n\nStephanie Gagnon-Rodriguez\, Center for Climate and Energy Solutions \n\n\nAdditional speakers will include community and business representatives.

SUMMARY:Introduction to the Multistate Action Plan
DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, nine states signed the Multistate Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Accelerate the Transition to Zero-Emission Residential Buildings. Citing the need to reduce climate and air pollution\, the MOU set a target for zero-emission heat pumps to make up 65% of the collective MOU state space and water heating market by 2030\, and 90% by 2040. Those states have since been joined by Washington\, DC\, and Washington state.\n\nThis webinar will provide an overview of the Multistate Action Plan to Accelerate the Transition to Zero-Emission Residential Buildings. Released in September\, the Action Plan provides over 50 recommendations to help states improve access to affordable clean heat. Participants will learn about the recommendations and hear directly from states on how they are working to advance zero-emission residential buildings. Speakers include Emily Levin\, Director of Policy and Programs at NESCAUM\, Liz Reichart\, Deputy Director of Building Decarbonization at the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources\, and Emily Salzberg\, Managing Director for Clean Buildings at the Washington Department of Commerce.

SUMMARY:Weatherization Readiness: Home Repairs That Save Energy and Lower Costs
DESCRIPTION:According to a nationally representative survey\, the Weatherization Assistance Program initially deferred 19% of audited homes in 2023 due to repair issues. If repaired\, these homes could benefit from significant energy savings\, improve residents’ health\, and lower utility bills. \nJoin us for a webinar exploring the exciting and important work of weatherization readiness. Attendees will hear the results of a new ACEEE survey and analysis\, as well as a discussion on potential energy savings and repair strategies for delivering energy efficiency benefits to income-eligible households. We will also highlight key challenges facing weatherization programs\, using New York’s Green Affordable Pre-Electrification Fund as a case study.
