SUMMARY:How We Save Clean Energy Programs: Budget Explainer & Advocacy Training
DESCRIPTION:Have you benefitted from clean energy or climate investments in the IRA?\nAll across the country\, communities\, businesses\, and individuals have seen firsthand what the clean energy and climate investments in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) can do. They’ve seen how the IRA is creating jobs\, reducing costs for families\, supercharging clean energy projects\, and reducing dangerous climate pollution. \nBut all of these programs are in real danger right now\, because they can be gutted or fully repealed during the budget reconciliation process which is already underway in Congress. \nGood news\, though! Individuals and groups with stories to tell about the positive impact of these programs have unique power in this landscape. \nJoin us on Monday\, March 3 to learn about budget reconciliation and just how state advocates can save the IRA’s clean energy programs.

SUMMARY:Tracking American Attitudes on Gas and Electrification
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Wednesday\, March 12th at 3 PM ET to hear the latest data on American attitudes on gas\, including electrification policy\, methane regulation\, and more. This new poll from the Gas Leaks Project builds on five years of data tracking public approval of various energy sources and policies\, and gives us critical guidance on how to shape climate campaigns during challenging political times. \nThe presentation of this annual December survey will be followed by a moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A. Moderator James Hadgis\, Executive Director of the Gas Leaks Project\, will be joined by pollsters Andrea Everett\, formerly of Climate Nexus Polling; Andrew Bauman of Global Strategy Group; and Danielle Deiseroth of Data for Progress to dig into the results and what they mean for the climate community and the movement to end gas.

SUMMARY:The 2025 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard: Ranking Progress and Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:For nearly two decades\, ACEEE has published the State Energy Efficiency Scorecard\, scoring and ranking states on policies and programs that save energy\, lower costs\, and produce environmental and economic benefits. The scorecard provides detailed information across six policy areas for all 50 states and the District of Columbia: utility programs\, transportation\, buildings\, state government-led initiatives\, industrial energy efficiency\, and appliance standards. \nJoin us to learn how states stacked up in the 2025 edition\, highlights of where states have made progress over the last two years\, and where they still have room to improve. Attendees will hear from both ACEEE staff who authored the Scorecard and state leaders on some of the most impactful new policies they were able to implement since the last edition.

SUMMARY:Quick Start Grant Webinar Series: Bridging the Gaps\, Funding the Future
DESCRIPTION:Join TECH Clean California for our final webinar in the Quick Start Grant series. This webinar will showcase findings from two projects seeking solutions for underserved market segments: an exploration of the technical barriers and opportunities of installing heat pump water heaters in manufactured housing\, and a framework for leveraging the green financing industry to fund retrofits. \nFeatured Projects:\n\nTesting Heat Pump Water Heaters in Manufactured Housing: Despite the potential energy savings and emissions reductions\, the adoption rate of heat pump water heaters in mobile and manufactured homes remains near zero. AESC will share insights from their efforts to install and evaluate the benefits of heat pump water heaters in manufactured homes through the Quick Start Grant program. The team will cover the pervasive barriers faced by these communities and recommendations for the needed regulatory changes\, technological innovation\, and collaborative efforts to unlock the potential of heat pump water heaters in these homes.\nScaling Heat Pump Retrofits in Housing with Cost Barriers: Climate Resolve & USGBC-CA aimed to promote residential electrification by addressing the financing gap for retrofits\, particularly for income-constrained households. The project explored opportunities to align measurement and verification protocols of heat pump installations with green finance standards and unlock new mechanisms for private investments. The team will share their findings with a focus on scaling these efforts to larger multifamily retrofits to attract more green financing.\n\nWhat You’ll Learn:\n\nGain insights into the unique challenges faced by low-income and historically marginalized communities when adopting heat pump technologies\, and how targeted incentives and financing solutions can drive broader adoption.\nExplore the broader impact of heat pump installations from the magnitude of energy savings in manufactured homes to greenhouse gas reductions that could attract green finance investments.\nLearn about the types of data necessary to unlock pathways for electrification in affordable housing and underserved communities.\n\nThis session offers valuable lessons for policymakers\, program implementers\, financial institutions\, and community-based organizations seeking to scale equitable clean energy solutions. \nPlease reach out to tech-clean-ca@veic.org with any questions you may have.
