SUMMARY:Decarbonizing Energy: Setting and Measuring GHG Targets Through Utility Energy Efficiency Programs
DESCRIPTION:States and utilities interested in reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) through energy efficiency programs have difficult decisions to make. These include how to set targets consistent with GHG reduction\, how to measure progress toward those targets\, and how to motivate these changes in the first place. Join us for a webinar as we explore a new report that can help us answer these questions. Attendees will hear about multiple methods for setting GHG goals within energy efficiency programs\, the various methods utilities can use to translate energy savings into GHG reductions\, and what motivations\, policies\, targets\, and equity considerations go into such a transition. We will also hear from expert speakers who will present a variety of geographic\, technical\, and policy perspectives on how energy efficiency can play its part in decarbonizing society.

SUMMARY:Centering Affordability in Low-Income Home Electrification Programs
DESCRIPTION:Nobody wants electrification to increase energy bills for low- and moderate-income (LMI) households. But what’s the best way to design electrification programs to deliver climate and health benefits while avoiding negative impacts to energy bills? This workshop will discuss the urgency of electrifying low- and moderate-income homes\, potential positive and unintended consequences of electrification for energy-burdened households\, and best practices for ensuring post-electrification bill affordability. We will discuss how program administrators can assess whether it’s the right time to electrify and we’ll provide space for interaction with peers and experts in the field.

SUMMARY:How to Design and Deliver Net-Zero Policy
DESCRIPTION:Government policy will be critical to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. But designing an effective policy mix is no easy feat\, with various mechanisms suited to different technologies\, sectors and geographies. Join us for the launch of BloombergNEF’s new policy blueprint: the NetZero Pathfinders framework aims to help governments devise and implement the best programs for their markets\, and other key stakeholders to know the policy actions required to achieve the goals of the Paris climate deal. \nDuring this webinar\, BNEF will launch the new public NetZero Pathfinders platform\, and share analysis from the policy framework. We will discuss what makes good clean energy policies\, followed by a Q&A.

SUMMARY:Climate Resilience: Lessons from the Field
DESCRIPTION:Enterprise’s Resilience Academies are regional\, cohort-based learning opportunities designed to help affordable housing owner/operators address the unique climate hazards in their region. We have held six Resilience Academies thus far in the Gulf Coast\, Southeast\, NY/NJ\, West Coast\, Rocky Mountain and Midwest regions\, and will complete our Mid-Atlantic Resilience Academy in the fall. During this webinar\, we will highlight overall findings from the academy\, discuss common climate resilient housing challenges shared by cohort members\, share resources and potential solutions\, and hear from academy participants on what they gained from the academy and how they are implementing their learnings moving forward.

SUMMARY:What’s in the Latest Residential Model Energy Code: Preparing for the 2024 IECC
DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Gayathri Vijayakumar\, Steven Winter Associates; Rob Salcido\, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) \nDescription: Hear about what’s new in the Residential 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Experts will highlight major differences between the 2024 IECC-R and the 2021 IECC-R and help practitioners understand new and updated requirements throughout the code\, including the building thermal envelope\, energy credits\, compliance paths\, and more. This session will also unpack the many new appendices introduced and describe how jurisdictions can support their adoption.

SUMMARY:Breaking Down Siloes to Plan and Finance Infrastructure for the Future
DESCRIPTION:A virtual event as part of New York Climate Week 2024. \nThere are many tools and case studies on how to support good governance in infrastructure planning\, particularly when it comes to financing and delivering sustainable and resilient infrastructure projects. That said\, changing how infrastructure is governed in practice is not always straightforward. This is due to country-level differences (such as governance systems\, politics\, and geography)\, ways of working\, and a disconnect in how infrastructure is planned\, financed\, and delivered. \nAt this event\, co-organised by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the ICE-led Enabling Better Infrastructure (EBI) Programme\, attendees will hear from senior government officials from around the world who have been able to shift how they governed more sustainable infrastructure. \nSpeakers will outline how countries have encouraged cooperation in infrastructure planning by breaking down silos and bringing in a wide range of stakeholders — such as ministries of finance and sectoral line ministries—to promote the setting up of bankable infrastructure projects. \nDuring the event\, speakers will reflect on the following key questions: \n\nHow were siloes broken down across the infrastructure system\, and what were the direct and indirect benefits for delivering on infrastructure needs?\nHow are the realities of financing and investing in sustainable infrastructure incorporated into the planning process?\nHow easy was it to identify which changes needed to be made across multiple government departments and other influential stakeholders\, and how did you overcome any challenges?\nWhich lessons can share with other countries wanting to break down siloes in how infrastructure is planned and delivered?\n\nInternational guidance\, such as UNEP’s International Good Practice Principles for Sustainable Infrastructure and ICE’s EBI principles\, will be used to explore how tools shape infrastructure governance in different parts of the world.
