DESCRIPTION:When national power feels out of reach\, the Midwest turns to state power—from representatives and policy to utility commissions—because the Midwest deserves better. Amid instability and federal rollbacks\, Midwest BDC is launching State Advocacy Days to advance bold\, community-centered climate action rooted in energy and utility justice. On February 5th\, we mobilize in Iowa\, bringing together everyday Iowans\, coalition members\, and climate champions from Des Moines\, Cedar Rapids\, Davenport\, Iowa City\, Ames\, Waterloo\, and Sioux City. Together\, we’ll share stories and speak directly to legislators about how building emissions and energy burdens affect real lives across the state. Location: Iowa State Capitol\, Des Moines. This event is designed to bring together coalition members\, community leaders\, and Minnesota’s climate champions—from Saint Paul and Minneapolis to Duluth\, Rochester\, Mankato\, Eden Prairie\, and Bloomington—to speak directly to the challenges and opportunities ahead. It will also make space for residents across these communities to share their stories\, helping legislators understand how carbon emissions from buildings are affecting real lives throughout the state.
